Peril and Splendor is a young adult adventure fantasy by Caleb Birch. Ramsay Wick is a famed warrior known for his heroics and peerless ability to protect the kingdom of Aegemald from monsters of all kinds. He leads one of the best teams of the Warriors' Guild, Team Leopadillo. After defeating a frightening Chimera, Ramsay, alongside his team members, Jonwide, Eldon, and Chase, travel to Nashia, where they rescue a young woman from a deadly cult. Eager to recuperate and rest, Team Leopadillo is called upon once again when the city of Nashia is destroyed by a group of dragons. Now, they must undertake a dangerous quest to the land of Yragos and defeat the Alpha dragon to save humanity. Along the way, they will be joined by unexpected allies. But their success will require a heavy sacrifice.
If you're a fan of video games like the League of Legends, you will love Peril and Splendor. Caleb Birch's young adult fantasy story is full of magic, action, romance, and a whole host of monstrous creatures. Crisp and concise, the plot moves at a blistering pace, with an action-packed narrative that keeps you always engaged. Ramsay is the ideal fantasy hero. He is brave, loyal, and a fantastic warrior, making you root for him from the first page onward. I enjoyed the dynamic between the members of Team Leopadillo, especially Chase and Jonwido. Ramsay and Irina's brief romance was also one of the highlights of the story for me. Overall, an entertaining adventure odyssey.
