Peter Dixon is a researcher, lecturer and author who writes nonfiction, with a focus on war and peace. He served for over 30 years as a Royal Air Force pilot and spent the next decade leading the charity Concordis International in its conflict resolution work in Sudan and other divided societies. He completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2015 on outside intervention in civil wars.
His writing has included 'Amazon Task Force', the story of a medical expedition in the Peruvian Amazon, 'Guardians of Churchill's Secret Army', which tells the stories of the men who joined the Special Operations Executive to keep Churchill's secret saboteurs safe, and 'Tightrope Walking' (chapter) in 'Making Peace with Faith: The Challenges of Religion and Peacebuilding' (editors Michelle Garred and Mohammed Abu-Nimer).
He and his wife Ingrid, also an author, work from their home in Gloucestershire, England, when their five grandchildren allow them to do so.

Peacemakers: A Christian View of War and Peace by Peter Dixon offers a fresh perspective on conflict resolution, one that encompasses the author’s peace building journey and work in conflict resolution, starting from the rough terrain and dangers of the streets of Kabul, and his arguments on what should be considered when working for reconciliation between warring parties. This book presents some painful images from Kabul to South Sudan and explores avenues where peace can be pursued and how. The author discusses the path that a genuine peacemaker can take and underlines sobering realities of peace and war. For instance, war can sometimes involve more than two factions. It is his conviction that Christians might not have the power to end wars, but they are called on to develop an attitude of mind that allows them to pursue peace even in the heart of conflict.
Peter Dixon’s book has relevant insights and very strong religious underpinnings. The author makes references to biblical content and allows his Christian philosophy to guide him in his understanding and engagement in the reconciliation process. I loved the fact that the author infuses the writing with his personal experiences, thus giving life to the content and making the work exciting to read. The writing is simple and the style very popular and conversational. Peacemakers: A Christian View of War and Peace offers a road map for Christians to embrace their faith and allow it to guide them in times of war. The book has a lot of wisdom for anyone working in conflict resolution. It is deftly articulated, reflective, and rich in content.
