Out Front is a lovely, engaging book by Elizabeth Wu about a girl from a royal family who lives on an island. Because of a storm devastating the island, she finds herself moving to live in China. You will enjoy reading how she meets friends, develops new interests, and even discovers that she has a mission to accomplish. After a period of time, she returns to her homeland on the island. She enjoys spending time with her parents and then they send her to a university in Scotland to continue her education. Circumstances in Elena's life seem to be ordered by God. She is concerned about a number of things, yet somehow they often work out for the best.
It's very interesting to learn about customs in China through her eyes. I also found it very rewarding to read about her commitment to her faith, even in China where this is difficult. Coincidentally, I find myself being prompted by God to make my faith more open. The world has just finished the Olympics, and many athletes made their faith open, prayed on camera, and made comments in interviews about being a godly person when they were in the public eye. This has encouraged me to speak out about my faith in a greater way in my own writing. I have written Christian books, but I have also written books that Christians might not like as well. Out Front refers to making one's beliefs known and was very encouraging to me as a Christian. I hope to show my faith by following God more closely in my own life and through my interactions with others. Such a beautiful, engaging book. I very much enjoyed the story of the author's growing mission interest.
