Operation November Blizzard is a futuristic sci-fi novel. Written by Stephen Snow, the story is set in a not-too-distant future and follows American sniper and Delta Force space soldier Ben Sutter. Recruited by the United States Space Force, Ben finds himself leading a multi-national crew on a top-secret mission aboard the USSS Venture to an asteroid near Ceres rich in rare-earth elements. Using the revolutionary Einstein Device, the USSS Venture reaches its destination without alerting the Chinese. Soon, the crew discovers He-3 on the asteroid's regolith, worth trillions of dollars. Meanwhile, US President George Frederick Hudson is working toward creating a Solar System Alliance (SSA) that would revolutionize space colonization for humans. After completing his first mission, Ben and his crew venture out again, only to encounter a never-before-seen anomaly beyond Triton.
If you're a fan of books like The Expanse by James S. A. Correy, Operation November Blizzard will be right up your alley. Author Stephen Snow knocks it out of the park with the first book in the Ben Sutter Series. Although the story is set in the futuristic 2030s, Snow keeps things on an even keel and doesn't go overboard with exaggerating the sci-fi elements too much. It makes the stakes and the story feel believable, as the developments in real-world space tech aren't that far behind what's showcased in this book. The plot seems very well-researched regarding the technology required for space travel. Additionally, Ben is someone you want to root for. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and will gladly recommend it.
