One Monsoon in Mumbai by Anitha Perinchery takes readers into the world of Bollywood. Though you may not see or hear singing and dancing, there is plenty of romance to make the heart pound. Meet cyber spy Seema Rawat, who is one step closer to becoming a real agent for the Indian Intelligence Bureau. Her mission is simple, well, for a hacker prodigy. Seema must gain access to Adhith Verma’s computer and prove him and his father guilty of political corruption. That is until Adhith’s best friend, fellow staff member, and pro computer jock—Vikram Joshi—comes in between Seema and her goal with his six-pack abs and rewarding smile.
If you’re a die-hard fan of romantic comedies and happy endings, then this book is for you. Anitha Perinchery creates a stellar cast of characters who provide humor, wit, and a perfect dose of flirtation to move the story along. Mumbai becomes both a place of beauty and a place where the underbelly of sin mingles. You can travel from the Gateway of India to the Red Light District in the space of an hour. And within the scenery, the presence of culture abounds. A dash of spice, chemistry, and attraction, and you have the makings of a proper rom-com (not to mention the tension). One Monsoon in Mumbai is a quick read if you aren't looking to go knee-deep into drama or excessive descriptions. Perinchery’s novel is a must for entertainment if you want something light-hearted to read!
