One Hot Rumor by Anna Durand is one hot romance novel. Nick is a forty-year-old Brit who’s found some trouble with his massage salon in Cockshire, England. Rumor is he’s a gigolo who gives “special” treatments. To flee the local media scuttlebutt, he decides to take a sabbatical at a New Mexico university to complete his undergraduate degree in business. He needs only a single course. That course is business analytics, and his professor is Siobhan (pronounced Shi-vaugn), a forty-two-year-old tenured Ph.D. in math who turns out to be his academic adviser and teaches the course. The sparks between the two fly at first sight. Nick is a relentless flirt, and his good looks, strong energy, and British accent quickly get under his professor’s skin—in a good way. Beautiful, sexy Siobhan is a single mom of eighteen-year-old Felicity and has had bad luck with men. She’s been without romance for five years, and any romantic relationship with a student will get her fired.
Despite Nick’s outer confidence, he struggles in a rivalry with a twin brother who is the apple of their father’s eye and has inherited the successful family publishing business. So, besides the sizzling get-togethers between the two illicit lovers, there is an actual plot. Nick needs to put the back-home rumors of his moral character behind him and to lose his sense of inadequacy compared to his twin brother. On a trip back to England with Siobhan by his side, family matters come to a head. Will the couple finally say the magic words, “I love you?” Will Nick solve his reputation issues in town, and will Siobhan find the stable love of her life without getting fired? I guess the answers are obvious, but the “how” of it all is another matter. Plus, of course, not one but quite a few sultry interludes along the way, One Hot Rumor by Anna Durand is definitely a sizzling romance novel.
