Anna had expected her career to take off with her recent novel. Her passion was writing stories. But when her book didn’t make the cut for publishing, all hope was dashed. As if that wasn’t enough, she’d moved to Cedar Lake to be with her boyfriend, who dumped her shortly after for his ex. No love, no career. Anna would rather not move back home, so she settled in as kitchen staff at the Starlight Inn, where she met Matthew. Matthew was an editor who had just returned home after losing his job. A discovery created animosity between both of them, but mutual attraction couldn’t be denied. Will Anna give love another chance? Is her writing career over? Novel Dreams by Jessica Anne Renwick holds all the juicy details.
Novel Dreams is a contemporary romance novel with elements of humor. The plot is strong and reinforces the “never give up” phrase. I also loved the character development with emphasis on the family unit. Madison’s family was one of a kind, and I wish they could get their individual stories. Anna was also a robust and relatable character as I got to see different shades of her. One minute, she had a backbone, and the next, she’d run away. I loved the beautiful dialogues woven into an engaging and simple writing style. Jessica Anne Renwick is a smooth storyteller, bringing the story to a satisfying end. It is advisable that we know what we want and see it through instead of running. We’re our biggest cheerleaders!
