Anthony Alfred has written Voices from a Black Mask and A Lost Soul: A Collection of Poems and Motivational Articles. “Nothing but Words on Paper” has only 74 pages. It is concisely written, and it is poignant.
Alfred acknowledges that his writing is simply words put to paper; it is up to the reader to put to practice his motivations and tips. Alfred explains that we are responsible for our own feelings. If we want change, we have to be tenacious about it. We cannot let fear paralyze us.
Alfred teaches that we need to acknowledge our gifts and be grateful; patience truly is a virtue. He explains that we do not need to make other people’s problems our own. This is not to say that empathy is bad. You can be a friend and not “own” their issue; don’t we all have enough issues to deal with?
This is a great book to read and reread for inspiration. Keep this in your “bathroom“ library; the short chapters are great when you only have a few minutes. Give it to your friends who need a lift up. What a great stocking stuffer.
