North Shore Nanny by Terry Ambrose (A McKenna Mystery, Trouble in Paradise book 6) is another great sleuth mystery starring Wilson McKenna. McKenna is relaxing with his friends on a sunset cruise when they discover a young girl has stowed away below deck. Ten-year-old Kai is a surfing prodigy and one of Oahu's top shredders. The Honolulu Star-Advisor has profiled her as one of the next generation of surfers. Right now she is in desperate need of a private investigator and has come to hire McKenna and Chase, his partner in crime solving. Unable to resist her, they accept her case and almost immediately regret it. Determined to be a part of the investigation, Kai's wilful interference and her fearless traveling over the island hinder McKenna and Chase's investigation. They spend more time looking for her and trying to keep her safe than doing the job they are hired to do. When the person that Kai is trying to save looks guilty, how are they going to tell her? Is it time to ask Great-Great-Grampa Kimu for advice?
Although McKenna insists that he is nothing but an apartment manager, he is sleuthing again in North Shore Nanny by Terry Ambrose. This is a delightful sleuth mystery set in the Hawaiian islands. McKenna has no interest in being a PI, but Chase is now studying to become a private investigator. McKenna is a penny-pincher and rides the bus in contrast to Chase who has come from money and drives a Ferrari. Although they seem to be opposites, they work well together in closing cases. In this story, Chase has a new girlfriend, and McKenna is considering beginning a relationship with Benni. The two girlfriends are backing Kai, which is what got the two men into this babysitting mess. It is amusing to watch the precocious ten-year-old out-maneuver the adults. She always stays one step ahead of them. All the characters in the story are appealing and lovable. I recommend this book to those who love a good, clean mystery. If you are looking for an enjoyable cozy mystery set in the tropics, then North Shore Nanny is a good book to pick up.
