Never The Twain by Delia Latham is another magical journey in the Hummingbird Hollow series. In the midst of feeling overwhelmed by the demands of her job, and after the loss of a friend and client, Cass is taking an involuntary but much-needed vacation. Her father has booked her into Inn the Hollow, hoping she will find the same peace and tranquility that he had experienced there. Before checking into the inn, Cass took a walk in the woods to relax after the drive. Her first encounter was with a bear and then with Ryder Hayes, both of which were unnerving and life-changing. Cass is a talent agent from Hollywood and Ryder is a Texas rancher on a mission to buy a horse. In Ryder’s words, “We’re from different worlds. Cass has hers, I have mine…and never the twain shall meet.” But, the attraction between them can’t be denied and a relationship develops easily and quickly. Cass has a secret and when Ryder finds out, he may walk away and not look back. While Cass is learning that she can show her emotions and still be a strong woman, Ryder must come to terms with the fact that his preconceived ideas could be all wrong. Both are seeking God’s direction and both will need to forgive each other and themselves.
Delia Latham takes us back to Hummingbird Hollow for another enthralling and powerful story. The journey of Cass and Ryder is full of surprises with profound words of encouragement and spiritual enlightenment. The reader is reminded of what a faithful and accessible God we serve. “How could she have forgotten, even for an instant, that Christ alone was her hiding place.” This charming story demonstrates love, both human and divine. Delia Latham has a special gift and is able to entertain us with a well-developed romance while at the same time teaching life lessons. Delia’s work entertains, inspires, encourages and offers truth, all in a seamless and enjoyable way. As always, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. Be prepared to be captivated, and you will have a hard time putting this one down.
