Angela Haas has written an endearing romantic comedy in My Plus One = You. It’s wedding season in Arizona and Rachel, always the bridesmaid, is feeling more despondent than ever. Not that she isn’t happy for her friends, but she keeps wondering when it will be her turn. Enter Cameron. Standing in for one of the groomsmen due to a cactus incident, this workaholic hates weddings. Sparks fly between Cam and Angela from the first moment, but previous relationships keep their surrender at bay. When their exes suddenly show up, Cam and Angela agree to be each other’s plus one. But there are rules – no one will be falling in love. Their friends think they are perfect together, but it seems that some hurts can’t be healed.
Author Angela Haas has created a wonderful world loaded with sensory stimulation. The characters are easily relatable and very likable. Written in the first-person narrative from the perspectives of our two leading characters, we are privy to their thoughts, fears, and desires. The plot is phenomenal, and the pace is perfect for this genre. I will admit there were several instances where I had to stop reading as the sexual tension rose to such extreme heights. Witty dialogue binds My Plus One = You together while heartwarming friendships are the foundation of this book. This author has an amazing gift for weaving the intricacies of various relationships into the story, making the characters full of depth. With some explicit language and tasteful sexual situations, this book is suitable for all fans of romance.
