My Little Green Umbrella by Sandy Little is a charming story about childhood imagination. One day a little girl asks for the green umbrella she finds in a thrift shop. She leaves the store with the umbrella, and the wonderful adventures begin. The umbrella not only stops the rain but brings out the sun. As the girl grows older, the umbrella is left in a closet and forgotten, until the next young child finds it and the magic begins again. This is truly a celebration of the childlike wonder that all children are born with. A simple object can become so much more in the eyes of a child.
My Little Green Umbrella is a story that will captivate young listeners. Sandy Little has captured the essence of a child's imagination. Kids can dive wholeheartedly into their make-believe worlds, and that is exactly what happens with the girl and her umbrella. The soft pastel illustrations by Tom Lintern add a cheerful and playful quality to the story. Each spread is full of delightful touches. My Little Green Umbrella will resonate with kids but will also bring back fond memories for the adults sharing the story. I enjoyed the fact that the umbrella also has a memory of the magical times it has spent with the children. Little ends the story beautifully. My Little Green Umbrella is the perfect story to cuddle up with on a rainy day. Don't be surprised if your little ones will want to get an umbrella of their own after reading Little's tale.
