My Daddy Is In Heaven Grief Workbook: A Companion Grief Guide is a follow-up activity book to help children understand and process why 'My Daddy Is In Heaven.' Authors Shawna Della Cerra and Alexander Della Cerra guide children (and a parent) to understand their emotions and take steps to handle grief. The activities also help children to understand the book better and make what they are reading easier to comprehend. I like the idea of using different crayons to color one's emotions such as red for anger or green for hope.

There are many prompts to guide a child to better understand their feelings, what they enjoyed doing together, and to develop coping skills. Activities include coloring pages, drawing pages, and journal pages to add comments such as “I loved when we…” How would you fill in the blank? What were some of the fun things you did with your Daddy (or Mommy)? Remembering your loved one and the fun stuff you did helps to keep the memories alive. Illustrated by Ryan Law, My Daddy Is In Heaven Grief Workbook: A Companion Grief Guide provides prompts for young readers to draw their favorite playtime activity, other people in their family, or emotions they may have experienced. Recording cherished pastimes with loved ones can help to keep their memory alive. One day at a time or one page a day can help youngsters to verbalize feelings and express emotions. It would be best if parents or caregivers bought the book and the companion workbook together as a set.
