Murder in a Moonlit Mason Jar by Corinne F. Gerwe is a murder mystery with lots of suspense. The setting is Serena, a town nestled at the top of the mountains. Two deaths, both looking very much like accidents, pull Jeff Farley, the Chief of Police, into the forest to investigate. There he finds that things are not as straightforward as they first appeared. A chilling combination of hoodoo, moonshine and property wars leads Farley into a mystery that deepens the more he looks into it. Charlotte Reed has escaped from her life as the wife of a congressman; she just wants some peace and where better to find it than at the top of the world? Then her husband shows up and things start happening, things that can’t easily be explained and events are about to take a ghostly turn.
Murder in a Moonlit Mason Jar by Corinne F Gerwe is a unique story, encompassing political corruption, murder, magic and a lot of mystery, not to mention murder. This is a well-written story, a plot the likes of which I’ve never read before, and a story that gets its hooks into you from the first page. The characters are exceptionally well developed, and there are plenty of colorful ones to meet. The array of characters really makes this book; so many to get to know yet there is enough information to make you feel a part of their community. The author draws you into the forest with her descriptive words and you will feel your heart pounding as you walk through the story. To me, that’s the mark of a good author; being able to make you feel as though you are there with the characters. Excellent story, one that will suit any reader who loves a great mystery story.
