Murder at the Town Hall by Denise Jaden is the third book in the Mallory Beck Cozy Culinary Caper series. Mallory continues to maintain her amateur sleuth status when she finds her way into yet another mystery. She lends her support to her new friend Sasha Mills by attending a meeting for the Ministry of Education, but before things get underway, the school Superintendent goes flying off the roof. The suspected murder comes at a time when Mallory's friend Alex needs a case to prove himself as a recently promoted detective and get away from a partner that he has to cover for. But can Mallory help her friend find a killer before that killer finds her?
This latest mystery shows the possible growing connection between Alex and Mallory with their chemistry stemming from the length of time that they've been friends. This friendship has its own thread throughout the story as she's determined to help him with his struggles to prove himself as a detective and that he's better than his partner who is less than competent. Their dynamic is humorous and has sweet chemistry between them that could easily grow into something more or further deepen their connection. The tone of the story is charming and lighthearted while creating a cozy mystery that has suspense, endearing characters, and a protagonist that is witty and smart. The story is humorous with lots of heart which delivers a world that feels like a warm blanket that you can wrap up in and follow along with Mallory as she catches a killer. Murder at the Town Hall is a must-read for all cozy mystery lovers!
