In Murder at Maypole Manor by L.B. Hathaway, private detective Posie Parker, Grape Street Bureau, has just received a call from Detective Inspector Richard Lovelace of Scotland Yard, and an invite to one of the swankiest New Year’s Eve parties of the year at Maypole Manor. All expenses paid. Inspector Lovelace called on Posie because she has worked with him before, and he knows that she will be able to conduct herself among the rich and famous, especially since she has a famous explorer boyfriend.
So arrangements are made and they set off for Maypole Manor. Then the fun begins. There are the two girls, daughters to the owner of Maypole Manor who are constantly fighting, and then there is a murder of a famous film star, and then another murder! This is a murder mystery after all, and it is up to Posie, Inspector Lovelace, and the mysterious MI5 agent to solve this whodunit. Why an MI5 agent you ask? Did I mention that it takes place just after WWI and that there is a plan of a new weapon that everyone would love to get their hands on?
This intrigue-filled whodunit has so many twists and turns that about the time you think you have solved the mystery, another twist happens and it is not the one you thought it was. Who could resist that? Intrigue galore! Throw in the glamour of the 1920s, fancy trains, fancy cars, clothes from the best design houses, and a fabulous old manor on the coast and you have a solid mystery on your hands. Anyone who loves Agatha Christie or loves mysteries in general will love Murder at Maypole Manor by L.B. Hathaway!
