Moving in Shadows by P.J. Lawton consists of nine very different short tales of the paranormal. Each story in this collection is unlike the others, offering the reader a wide selection. While each story varies, they all are good. The subjects include time travel, aliens, ghosts, the Grim Reaper, future sight, a ghost car, a ghost on a bridge, the fountain of youth, and Native American spirit helpers. I found each story to be compelling and well presented. I also thoroughly enjoyed reading this book all the way through. In most anthologies, I often find one or two stories I don’t care for, but such is not the case with Moving in Shadows.
P.J. Lawton has a broad repertoire of publications, covering several genres. These include private detective mystery-adventure novels, a time travel mystery novel, a Sci-Fi private detective mystery novel, paranormal and Sci-Fi short e-books, two volumes of horror and Sci-Fi short stories (including “Moving in Shadows”), and four children's books. It’s apparent he must be doing something right! Lawton has a way with words, along with a knack for twisted or unexpected endings. His stories are concise, yet leave out nothing. If Moving in Shadows is a typical example of Lawton’s work, he is a force to be reckoned with. I urge all fans of any of the above listed genres to check out Lawton’s work. Moving in Shadows is the perfect anthology by which you can sample some excellent writing.
