Morphids is the stunning opening to The Tales of Cerahya by Kerry Alexander-Hall, a work that sings with magic, features very powerful and compelling characters, and introduces interesting themes as well. It’s a story about a people’s struggle to survive in a world that is fast falling apart, standing up against a powerful threat. The story involves an ancient prophecy and heroes who must lead by understanding riddles from their past.
Morphids is so beautiful, so well-written, so refined for a debut novel. It’s a huge promise for readers who love to walk with a character in a series. The writing is highly descriptive and perceptive; whether the author is making a quick reflection about life or describing a scene or an aspect of the setting, the voice comes out clearly and compellingly. The characters are drawn from a world fraught with magic and power and they seem to be created with a spell that will arrest the hearts of readers. The story begins right away with the last prophecy of a celebrated prophet and the reader is intrigued, buoyed up with the longing to see how the prophecy plays out in the gripping and fast-paced plot. Kerry Alexander-Hall weaves a tale that combines mystery, fantasy, and fiction into one masterpiece that will enthrall readers. Highly recommended!
