When I first picked up Mission to Earth, I didn’t know what to expect. It seemed unlike any other book I had read. And after reading it, I can say with certainty that it is indeed unlike any other book that I have read. Fil Munas has written a sci-fi futuristic, yet historically based, novel that is a splendid mixture of reality and fantasy. Mission to Earth starts with Mac, an inhabitant of a planet called Galymon, who starts off on a mission to Earth in order to explore it, find out as much as possible about its history and creatures, and report back his findings to the Supreme Authority of Galymon. Thus begins the fascinating book which, in essence, takes us on a thrilling and eye-opening journey of the history of the planet Earth. This book actually combines fact and fiction, and Fil Munas offers a comprehensive, detailed account of Earth, how it came into being, evolution of life on Earth, and the universe itself for that matter.
Fil Munas’ writing style is extremely engaging and consequently the book reads like a thriller or mystery at times, leaving you wanting to know more and read more. The depth and breadth of knowledge displayed by Fil Munas in the fields of physics, astronomy, biology, cellular biology, history, geography, economics, anthropology, philosophy, government, and politics - to name a few - is simply astounding and nothing short of amazing. I was very impressed with one man’s knowledge and understanding of all of these fields and the ability to bring them all cohesively together. After reading this book, I actually felt that I learnt a lot about the planet and the universe we live in. This is truly a one-of-a-kind book and I very highly recommend it.
