Milton Schacter was a prosecuting attorney for twenty years. He then switched to the dark side and became a criminal defense attorney. Most of his career has been spent writing briefs, memorandums, points and authorities, and a multitude of motions, both as a prosecutor and as a defense attorney. Although the stuff of lawyer writing is dry, the people who are defendants, or clients, are not. Some of those persons are very bad, some are normal, and some are very funny. Milton wanted you to hear about them, both in a courtroom setting, as well as venturing into international espionage where the characters faced real personal challenges. So, with a little imagination, and a glass of brandy, he began to write his first novel, Misdemeanor Trials. Milton lives in Arizona with his wife, his dog, and his computer keyboard. He spends his time, outside of court, reading, and writing, which is a very satisfying expenditure of time. His recreational reading interests are international espionage, time travel, and world war two non-fiction history.

Misdemeanor Trials by Milton Schacter is a terrorist thriller about an ex-Navy SEAL and a search for someone that takes him to the other side of the world. John Trader is a successful prosecutor and he is happy with the progress he has made. He used to be a Navy SEAL, but killing people took a toll on his mental health so he had enough of it. Everything was going great, until he is called by his superiors to uncover terrorist attacks waiting to happen. Religious extremists are gearing up to wreak havoc in the lives of Americans and if John isn’t quick enough, many innocent lives will be lost. He really doesn’t want to get back in his old life, but he has no choice. So John travels all the way to the Middle East to find a man who might be the key to solving this issue. Along with that, John will have to fight his demons. Does John have what it takes to do his duty while keeping his sanity intact?
Misdemeanor Trials by Milton Schacter is definitely a darker terrorist thriller, maybe because it touches on reality. The author sets the tone of the story with Mike’s little introduction and death. There is a multitude of characters in the story and each is instrumental in furthering the plot. The pace of the story is fast and the characters are given ample time to grow and develop. John’s journey is thrilling and humbling at the same time. He has his own nightmares to fight and he doesn’t really want to go on this mission, but when his hands were tied, he gave it his all. Each woman that came in his life left a huge mark, but it was Farah that had an impact on me. She is a fighter even though her circumstances are really not in her favor. The descriptions in the story are on-point and John’s development is steady. I hope the author makes it a series because this book was incredible.
