Cannabis has been used by different cultures all over the world for ages. In Mighty Flower, former basketball player, scientist, entrepreneur, and author Annabelle Manalo advocates the usage of marijuana in all its myriad forms and shows its many beneficial aspects, particularly medicinal. Born to Filipino immigrants in Saskatchewan, Canada, Annabelle excelled in many endeavors before becoming a cellular biologist. However, an almost tragic event turned her life upside down when her son Macario suffered a stroke and started having seizures two days after his birth. Requiring surgeries and heavy medication, Macario had 38% of his brain removed, which led doctors to predict impediments to his mental and physical capacities. Refusing to lose faith and using her expertise in cellular biology, in the summer of 2016, Annabelle developed the purest form of cannabidiol, replacing it with her son's medication, to great success.
Mighty Flower perfectly demonstrates the positive aspects of cannabis, showcasing its impact on multiple cultures for thousands of years, especially India. Annabelle Manalo takes a meticulous approach to highlight the various ways cannabis can be used and be beneficial to society at large. From the composition of the cannabis plant down to all of its parts to its influence on Eastern civilizations through its medicinal, spiritual, and cultural usage, every aspect related to the plant is covered in this book. The author's personal story makes the story all the more impactful, and her thorough research of the subject matter, as well as her background, gives credence to her well-reasoned arguments. Overall, a very informative and illuminating read.
