Method in the Madness by Kimberley Brouillette is Book 3 of The Monastery Murders series. A murderer is on the loose and the spirits of the dead are restless in Wattsville, screaming for justice. Lt. Christopher Williams is on the case but the killer is losing their grip on reality every day. Katy Warsaw is concerned about her fiancé, John Smith; his behavior is odd. Then his adopted mother goes missing at the same time as Katy starts to have nightmares, visions about John and his mother. When she reports it to the police, everyone swings into action but the investigation raises more questions than answers and perhaps the biggest question of all – who is John Smith? How is he connected to events that happened decades before? All Lt. Williams knows is that he has to stop a madman before any more lives are lost.
Method in the Madness: Monastery Murders Book 3 by Kimberley Brouillette is a great finish to a series. It draws books 1 and 2 together nicely but, although there are references to the first two books, you cannot read this as a standalone – you must read all three in order to get the true picture. This book took a much deeper dive into the past, weaving together the loose ends from the start of the series and I guarantee you will be surprised at how things turn out. Ms. Brouillette has a way of writing that draws you into the story; hook, line, and sinker. This is more of a thriller with murder/mystery and supernatural undertones. The characters are well developed people and the main antagonist feels as real as any psychopath you might meet on the streets – without even knowing it. A great end to the series. I really enjoyed it.
