Mercy by KC Decker is about a forbidden, secret romance. Mercy is a young woman who has spent most of her life in an institution where she was told she was schizophrenic. With a dark history involving a cult, Mercy has come to terms with where she has ended up but is also determined to make a better life for herself once she gets out. Her new psychiatrist, Dr. Sutton, works his way into her life and realizes that she may not have been treated correctly for the past several years. They realize they have feelings for each other and, although it is against the rules, they can’t help but be drawn together during Mercy’s final few weeks at the hospital.
Romance is my most-read and favorite genre, so I was very excited to read Mercy; it did not disappoint! Mercy and Sutton were both great characters, and watching them overcome their fears and hurts to get closer to each other kept me captivated throughout the story. Not only were the main characters wonderful, but so were all the side characters. I really liked Mercy’s friends at the hospital, and I thought they made a great addition to the plot. Sutton’s indecisiveness was a bit overwhelming and frustrating at times, but other than that, I really enjoyed Mercy by KC Decker. I thought the author crafted this taboo romance in an elegant way. This book has some steam in it, so it may not be for everyone, but I would recommend it to readers looking for a deep, strong romance.
