Magic Streets: Prague Bound Book One by Marco Marek is a fantastically captivating tale that begins with photographer Jack Harson deciding to rent an apartment, as opposed to staying in a hotel, during his week-long assignment. Vltava Orient is the manager of the eight-story apartment building, formerly known as the Constellation Hotel. Mrs. Orient rents him the Victorian-style apartment and he quickly finds out that she is a fortune teller with a deck of tarot cards at the ready. She wants him to mind his words when he is on Merkulova Street, whatever that means. Jack takes a walk and ends up on Merkulova Street. He is admiring the gothic architecture and the wondrous golden lane, and finds himself transported to a street where he meets the beautiful Lenka with brown hair. From there he experiences a series of events that make him question his own sanity. He is thrust into a world of the supernatural, magic, witchcraft, and other paranormal phenomena. Smitten by Lenka and being able to magically transport to areas he is thinking about, he finds himself on a quest. There are many surprises and "Ah ha" moments when he gets caught up in an epic struggle between good and evil of epic proportions, that nearly costs him his sanity.
Mr. Marek does an outstanding job of bring this story to life with a cast of very believable characters and settings from the 16th century. Marco's descriptions of Prague and the unique bridges, streets, and buildings create very vivid images in the reader's mind. His characters are very convincing with the time sensitive quest he finds himself and his new friends on to thwart the invasion of evil forces. Even in the modern world, magic still exists, but will Jack lose his sanity? This flawlessly written paranormal fantasy fired on all cylinders for me. I was thoroughly caught up in the plot, just as easily as Jack's attraction to Lenka. When the story was over, I was left wanting more. I am looking forward to Magic Streets: Prague Bound Book 2 with bated breath. Bravo! Well done!
