Author Biography

Davina is a grandmother who was inspired to write from a teenager and discovered it is never to late to fulfill your dream. Magdalena took a few years and a number of re-writes to put together but finally I fell in love the story of a woman who loved deeply and fully and who tenaciously hung on to her faith in life as challenges arose that seemed insurmountable. It inspires me and encourages me whenever I read it myself. She is multi racial and so represents all women. I hope it uplifts your spirit.

Magdalena by Davina Louise Adina is set in an era where access to resources and opportunities is scarce for a woman, especially when she has been sold to a house of ill repute by a deceitful aunt, as Magdalena was. The tragedy she faced after her mother and grandparents’ deaths throws her into the path of her Aunt Maryann who gets rid of her for personal gain. Raised and protected by her blood relatives her whole life, she is suddenly tossed into a world she knows nothing about. Still, she never loses her headstrong personality and quick wits which help her through her harrowing journey.

Magdalena is an enjoyable, empowering read about the adventures of a girl who overcomes so many obstacles given by Fate and turns into a magnificent woman along the way. She struggles not to lose herself with every unseen tragedy that enters her life and her persistence is what helps shape her into an exceptional person. Davina Louise Adina’s work encourages and empowers me with every page I read. I was pulled in by the characters’ troubles and trials. It was easy to see myself in their shoes and I constantly thought about what I would have done if I was in their place. Magdalena by Davina Louise Adina is a special tribute to women, to people who find themselves in an unexpected and difficult situation but remain resilient in the face of adversity. This book is a determined view of Magdalena’s transformation from quiet strength, but reliant to her family and the people in her life, to accomplished self-reliance and a mistress of her own Fate. Truly a bold, influential, and unforgettable book.

When Magdalena’s grandfather dies, leaving her his sole heir, her uncle’s wife takes charge of the situation. She needs her sons to inherit. Magdelena must disappear. The answer comes easily by planning a kidnapping that results in selling Magdalena to Mr. Rochester, a well-to-do gentleman who makes his fortunes by “breeding” young women in the art of courtesan activity. Following extensive training, Magdalena is employed as a companion to Sir George, a kindly elderly man who leaves Magdalena financially comfortable upon his own death. With money at hand and a lovely home, Magdalena has few wants but needs to find a purpose for her life. This purpose comes in the form of studying the healing properties of herbs and plants in the company of Dr. Mark Feinheim, but not before a chance meeting with Stefan, Earl of Stranton. Caught in a romantic triangle, Magdalena’s tumultuous life takes a dramatic turn.

Magdalena, by Davina Louise Adina, is an action-packed historical romance filled with jealousy, hate, and deception that keeps the reader riveted with each turn of the page. Filled with multiple plot twists and settings, the novel is not of standard romance format. In fact, the pages of Magdalena could easily be expanded into a much longer story. While the main character begins her development as a sweet, innocent child, the turmoil of her maturation paints strength not always portrayed in romantic fiction. She pushes through each challenge with grace, yet keeps her wits above the characteristics of an average maiden in peril. An enjoyable read for historical romance fans.
