Savannah, Georgia is Beatrice Middleton’s hometown. After being fired from her television journalist position in Los Angeles, she decided it was time to visit her family for the first time in many years. After the family visit, she’d head to Atlanta for an interview with CNN for a west coast position. Plans were made for her children, Alyssa and Dexter, to stay on the west coast with their individual biological fathers. En route, she was notified that her adolescent nephew Jayden had been murdered. She, her brother, Sheriff Luther Middleton, and a fellow detective, Mary O’Hanlon, were soon on the trail of the murderer. The tragedies increase as her son shows up in Savannah and becomes an unwitting victim in the murderous scheme. Low Country Blood: A Vega & Middleton Novel, written by Sue Hinkin, has multiple heart-stopping moments, as well as meticulous step by step detective work.
This story is a thrilling adventure from the first page to the last. The reader is engaged in a fast-paced, scary plot. Yet, the author has skillfully developed the story line, providing balance throughout the book. The love and humorous moments, provided by a loving and quirky group of family members, serve as a respite from the terrifying ones. Sue Hinkin created intriguing and complex characters by revealing experiences from their childhood and adolescent years and how these are manifested in their adult lives. Additionally, the descriptions of the swamp areas around Savannah, full of alligators, snakes and other creatures, add dread to the plot. Author Sue Hinkin’s compelling work, Low Country Blood: A Vega & Middleton Novel, embodies an exciting story with memorable characters – not to be missed!
