Lovable Lucy Splish Splash Backyard Bash by Norma E Roth and Shayna Rose Penn tells the story of a little dog called Lucy who learns that her family is having a big party in the backyard. They are putting out paddling pools and playing with the hose. Everyone is having fun. Lucy is happy to see all her dog friends when they arrive. Her dog friends include a dog called Sammy, who is a service dog for Sol. Sol is deaf and needs Sammy to help her. Lucy is helpful and kind to the other dogs because she knows that parties can be a little overwhelming at times. All the dogs have a fun day together and Lucy goes to bed very happy that night.
Norma E Roth and Shayna Rose Penn have written a fun and inclusive story with Lovable Lucy Splish Splash Backyard Bash. The story is entertaining and kids will love learning about the different dogs. They are all unique and it can teach young readers that dogs have different temperaments depending on their age and breed. The illustrations are eye-catching and colorful, but simple. The authors have created a great book that not only will kids love, but they can learn from it too. I love the inclusion of Sammy and Sol and the page on sign language at the back of the book. The story is well-written and children who love dogs will enjoy this book. I think that children aged 4-8 years would enjoy it the most. I would definitely recommend it.
