Little Boy Boo: The Adventures of a Yorkshire Terrier is a children's primer written by David Mercaldo. Boo lives with Miss Linda, who adopted him when he was a puppy. Boo doesn't think of himself as a dog; he's Miss Linda's little boy and everyone who knows them is aware of that fact. The two of them go for walks around the neighborhood, visit the park and friends they know, and have many adventures. Boo likes to meet kids if they're gentle with him, and he enjoys playing with other dogs, except puppies. Puppies are just too crazy and run around too much. Some of Boo's adventures take place in the winter when there's snow on the ground, and others in the spring and summer, when Miss Linda tends her garden.
David Mercaldo's children's primer, Little Boy Boo: The Adventures of a Yorkshire Terrier, is entertaining and educational. Reading Boo Boo's stories can give a child insights into how dogs perceive their world and the people they interact with. The joys and responsibilities of having an animal companion are also shared in this series of fun tales and stories. Young readers are also invited to be the illustrator for this book. There are blank pages set out with story-related prompts to encourage creativity, and a very inviting space under the author's information and picture on the back cover for young illustrators to make this book their own. There's more than the stories, however, as the book contains several lined pages for young authors to pen their own Boo Boo adventure, as well as a number of story-related puzzles, mazes and games. Little Boy Boo: The Adventures of a Yorkshire Terrier packs a lot of fun reading and entertainment between the front and back covers, and it's highly recommended.
