The deeply moving, beautifully-written historical novel, Priscilla: Apron Strings Book Three by Jenny Knipfer, chronicles the story of a family that survives multiple tragedies through faith and a woman who battles to keep her hope alive amidst imminent loss. After Priscilla’s mother passed, her family tried to move forward as best as they could. When WWII robbed them of her two older brothers, the family had trudged forward through her father’s unshakable faith. Now as the family faces the foreclosure of their farm, Priscilla struggles to believe in God’s goodness. She hopes to have her own family but believes she must first improve her culinary skills by joining a cooking club. When Priscilla’s burdens threaten to overwhelm her, she finds answers to her prayers in an unlikely place.
This story includes a thought-provoking exploration of adversity and many powerful lessons about hope and faith. I loved its stunning characters and appreciated that they were imperfect and relatable. Their growth throughout the story was touching and inspiring. I enjoyed the surprising twists woven into the plot and the mystery included which adds many suspenseful turns throughout. Priscilla’s love story is charming and authentic. Other characters are also well-developed and have intriguing lives. The conversations were entertaining and I loved that they were humorous and realistic. A fabulous Christian novel with true-to-life characters and many unexpected twists, Priscilla by Jenny Knipfer is a wonderful addition to the Apron Strings series. Readers will enjoy its fantastic dialogue, practical themes, and applicable lessons.
