In Life: Excerpts From..Things I Got from a Place Called Life, you get to journey along La T's poetic experience in poem after poem of interesting complexity that juxtaposes with its simplistic style. From beginning poets to the poet laureate, these excerpts from life have meaning and purpose to everyone who gives them a chance. The best thing about poetry, and all literature really, is that it means different things to everyone reading them. While I might have found a poem to be funny, another person may find it deep and meaningful. I love how flexible and funny La T's poems were. They really showed a depth of life and character that you rarely get in poetry. I really enjoyed her work.

La T seems to have quite the imagination. She speculates on everything from past relationships to "her schizophrenic self" and everything in between. I enjoyed seeing the different photos of La T. They made the story a bit more artistic, and accompanied the poems that they embellished very well. As for the poems themselves, I liked the diversity in style. You would get some long paragraphed, prose-like sentences. Then, on the other hand, you get short limericks and haikus. I like a well-rounded poetry book, especially these days. Otherwise a book of poetry can really drag if it only has one medium to it. Life is a lovely book, filled with humorous observations and a witty commentary on daily life. La T did a wonderful job and has a beautiful writing style.
