Jane Biondi Munna recounts her father's life story in Let's Be Frank. Frank Biondi, a former CEO of HBO, Viacom, and Universal Studios who helped shape the modern entertainment industry, lost his life to cancer in 2019, leaving an unfinished memoir later completed by his daughter. In this book, Jane Biondi Munna shares her father's stories and the principles that led to his success. Frank served on twenty corporate boards throughout his illustrious career, from The Bank of New York to the likes of Madison Square Garden. The book contains some fascinating tales about Frank's life that showcase his impact on the entertainment industry. These include overturning a struggling HBO's fortunes in the early 80s, a falling out with billionaire media mogul Sumner Redstone, turning down Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings, and knocking Donald Trump to the ground during a charity tennis tournament.
Let's Be Frank demonstrates how one's integrity and morals help a person achieve unprecedented success and change the course of history. Jane Biondi Munna does a spectacular job of finishing her father's biography, which offers readers a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the entertainment industry. Frank Biondi is a giant of the entertainment industry who played a big part in bringing broadcast television to what it is today, i.e., the advent of streaming services. Every single anecdote peels the layers off Frank's personality bit by bit to unveil him as a hardworking dreamer who refused to compromise on his morals. An inspirational book about an admirable man that I will highly recommend.
