Leading Wise: Inspirational Reflections for Corporate Leaders by Eboni Adams Monk is a powerful motivational tool that can take your leadership skills to the next level. Leaders come in all stripes and flavors, but it takes one with wisdom and reflection to stand out and make a difference in the corporate world: a difference to those you lead, your peers, and even yourself. Instead of putting on an act or white-knuckling it - even doing what you've been taught by so-called experts - you can learn through this book how to be a more original leader, carving your own niche, shunning cookie-cutter leadership styles and trends. Reflections may include concepts like meditating, daydreaming, and observing.
Monk shows that sometimes to be an effective leader, you need to reach back into the past to some of the traditional ways that are wise and powerful. This author focuses on key concepts that you can easily grasp and use, like inner connection, balance, spirituality, and culture. These methods may be very different from the cut-and-dried business approach you've learned or have even used, often with little success. The author says that leadership potential lies within each person and that you can learn to be a better leader. And, it isn't just about past wisdom. It's about your own wisdom and experience that lies dormant inside, waiting to be called on.
This book engages the reader with prompts, proverbs, affirmations, and journal pages with space to write your thoughts. It's a trim book but packed full of knowledge that you need to become a wiser leader and more effective. I especially like the personal anecdotes as they encourage leaders and potential leaders to think differently about how they can lead. I especially like the author's idea that power comes from within. Make Leading Wise: Inspirational Reflections for Corporate Leaders by Eboni Adams Monk the very next addition to your self-help library.
