She and her fiancé are both very successful reporters, they will be getting married on New Year and they have a baby on the way. Bridgette has everything that she wants. Until her life suddenly falls apart. On her most recent visit to the doctor, she is told that her baby will most likely be born with Down's Syndrome. Although it is heartbreaking news, Bridgette knows that with the love of her fiancé, Elliot, she can face anything. Only, Elliot doesn't react to the baby's diagnosis the way she expected. He wants her to abort the little life growing inside her. After arguments and tears, Bridgette finally acquiesces with the understanding that Elliot will be with her through the last step. When Elliot abandons her during the abortion, Bridgette decides to leave him.

As she deals with her family drama, it affects her work life. Bridgette suddenly finds herself without love, without a job, and horribly scarred from recent traumas. Last Things by Betta Ferrendelli is a beautifully written if not heartbreaking story of the prejudices associated with people with disabilities. I was very impressed with the author's attention to details, and the way she crafted her story. Last Things is a beautiful story of love, hope, and learning how to release the painful mistakes made in the past so that they could move into a beautiful new life. I loved the support system the women created so that they could do what they knew was right for the special child in their lives. This story was heartrending but so beautiful! I would recommend this book to readers that like dramas, women's fiction, and enjoy seeing characters grow.

Last Things by Betta Ferrendelli is the story of a young journalist named Bridgette Connor. When the guilt and stress of her personal and professional life becomes too much for her, Bridgette resigns from her job and leaves her fiancé to start anew, but she crashes her car while driving through a storm. Salvation appears in the form of Alexis Parker, the owner of the Sunrise Diner, who offers Bridgette a place to stay, as well as hope for the future in the form of friendship and love.

I simply cannot say enough good things about this book. Both wonderfully engaging and well written, Betta Ferrendelli’s Last Things should be at the top of your wish list this holiday season! Ferrendelli is a master when it comes to world building, recreating the small town atmosphere of Windsor, Kentucky within the pages of this novel, and filling it with a cast of characters both relatable and understandable. She powerfully conveys Bridgette’s inner struggle with the guilt she feels over the impact of her article and going through with the abortion.

As you read you cannot help but find yourself rooting for Bridgette, wanting her to live and thrive as if she were a friend of yours. In addition, Alexis acts as a perfect foil for Bridgette, offering her guiding advice that helps her find her way and move on, with Bridgette doing the same for Alexis in her own way. A brilliant story that revolves around the ups and downs of life, Last Things tugs at the heartstrings and reminds us all of the resilience and strength of human nature. A wonderfully moving story with a rollercoaster ride of emotions that brought me to tears at some points.
