Shipwrecked, Caroline Blacknall finds herself rescued by reclusive, Sir Grant Dunmore, who takes her to Muirin Castle, an ancient relic surrounded by mysteries and folklore. But Grant is anything but happy to see Caroline; he can't shake the past and the scars he still holds, visible and invisible. He is determined to keep Caroline at arm's length, especially when danger is lurking ever closer; but Caroline will not be deterred. She is on a mission to find The Chronicle of Kildare and finish her research. Grant is just as determined to keep her away, knowing the danger involved with his mission to protect Ireland. Their past attraction can't be denied, and it isn't long before the two come together in a heated display of passion. As the two face a mounting rebellion, their love and commitment will be tested for endurance and lead them straight into Ireland's uncertain future.
With an eye for detail, Laurel McKee brings alive a tale of romance and intrigue with her vivid descriptions of Ireland and Muirin Castle. Caroline Blacknall is a delightful character, filled with warmth, compassion and grace. Sir Grant Dunmore has just the right amount of dark intrigue to whom women find themselves irresistibly drawn. This book was a wonderful read, filled with romance set against the historic detail of Ireland's turbulent past. I look forward to reading more from this talented author.
