Knight of the Hunted by Elizabeth Dunlap follows Lisbeth, a 400-year-old born vampire who had it all until she didn’t. Lisbeth is a beautiful woman by any standards and has lived long enough to know the best and worst of what life has to offer. It is because of a single act of kindness that Lisbeth finds herself on the run from her own kind. Now a fugitive, Lisbeth has to rely on instincts that once lay dormant due to years of living in comfort. While on the run, she encounters a Lycan although this one seems to be different from the rest. Knight, a werewolf with no pack, agrees to protect Lisbeth despite her being a bloodsucker and, through their time together, the two learn to set aside their differences and prejudices. As the two grow closer, new and old enemies threaten the bond they may have.
Knight of the Hunted by Elizabeth Dunlap was definitely an interesting take on a vampire and werewolf love story. It uses known tropes wisely and has its own unique take on the genre. Although it is listed as a reverse harem story, we just get a glimpse of what is to come and it definitely leaves you wanting more. The characters in Knight of the Hunted were all quite interesting although I would have loved to see more of Olivier. I loved how the female characters in this book were strong and intelligent, keeping far away from the usual damsel in distress archetype you might find in some novels. Overall, this is definitely a worthwhile book and I look forward to seeing how the story progresses.
