Killer Review by MK Scott is a fun, cozy murder mystery. Donna Tollhouse is a middle-aged, part-time private nurse, and the proud and very busy owner of The Painted Lady Inn. With the help of her brother, Daniel, his wife Maria, and a young live-in college student, Tennyson, Donna may have a lot to juggle, but she runs her B&B like a well-oiled machine. When her friend and restaurant owner, Janice, asks Donna to spy on one of her most distinguished and possibly dangerous guests, Donna has to make a choice. Friendship or the reputation of her Inn?
Later that same day, the guest's portrait is found hanging on the notorious superstition-drenched "Wall of Death" in the local Cajun restaurant. Rumors circulate that she is dead. The Wall of Death has never been wrong. Soon after, her car is found abandoned. Is she really dead? Is it murder or suicide?
As more guests arrive, Donna's challenges seem to multiply. When she calls her mother for help, she gets more than she bargained for as her mother tries setting her up with some of her own many admirers. Now, Donna has more than just the Inn to worry about, but her mother's marital designs for her daughter. Just when Donna thinks things can't get any crazier, her mother sets her up on a blind double date. Will she survive the weekend? Will she become the murderer's next target?
Killer Review by MK Scott was an enjoyable read! I loved this book. It is refreshing to read about a protagonist that is mature. The author created a humorous set of characters with lovable qualities. The family dynamics were so enjoyable. Donna's family may be a little crazy (no crazier than any other family), but they care. The conclusion was something of a surprise. I loved how the story was based around such a beautiful setting as the Inn. There are several recipes from the story included at the back of the book. The recipes in the back looked yummy. I just wish one would have been the danish or cheesecake. Still, the recipes were inspired. A charming cozy murder mystery, and I will be looking for more Painted Lady Inn Mysteries.
