Quinn Pearson, who does the midday news at the KCFL television station in Orlando, has never been able to confront her nemesis. Stacey Moriarty, who does the evening news and is the face of the station, does not like Quinn and never misses an opportunity to put her down. Quinn’s friends tell her she “settles” in her life – from jobs to her mother to her boyfriends. When she meets Henry while choking on a powdered sugar donut, her life changes in dramatic ways. While both of them struggle with past relationship issues, there is a strong attraction between them from the first moment they meet. In Just a Girl, written by Becky Monson, a convoluted relationship with professional and personal implications unfolds.
The main character, Quinn, is intriguing. She is also dogged by almost daily emails from a disgruntled news watcher and an unflattering YouTube video. Henry, who recently moved to Florida from England, has to come to terms with a painful event from his past. Will these two be able to rise above these problems? An enjoyable feature of this book is the many humorous situations and comments, making the reader laugh out loud. Author Becky Monson has written a funny and poignant chick lit novel inJust a Girl.
