Javier by H.H. Fowler introduces us to Pedro, Caleb and Javier, three boys who can’t stay out of trouble in New York. These three boys put Rachael Raymonds to the test as she tries to save them from a detective named Macino. As if that was not enough trouble, she has to resist the sensual charms of the 17-year-old Javier. Sparks fly when the different worlds of the Safe House Sistahs and the Gangsta kids collide in one home. Rival gangs and a power struggle leave everything reeling.
Suspense, drama and intense plots drive Javier as a full throttle book that will interest you and in the end leave you crying like a small child. I was fully invested in the story of Javier and the lives of the women and men that were rolled out for us in this story. H.H. Fowler has a way of writing that is easy flowing and enjoyable while also wrapping you fully into the story being told. While the story did start out a little slow as information was being given, it picked up and I would highly recommend this one to anyone who likes a good read. Between the drama and the ending that will leave you crying and feeling like a book attacked you (in the best way possible for a book!), it has everything you look for in a summer read.
