Instant Mind Power: How to Train and Sharpen Your Mental Abilities Instantly! is the second book that I’ve read from The INSTANT-Series. The straightforward, no frills approach is the attribute that attracted me to the series in the first place. Instant Mind Power is a simple and fast approach regarding concentration and memory training.
Some techniques are known to me, but they are approached in slightly different ways. Chapter 2 discusses the method to stay focused, by training your mind to block out any type of distraction, suppressing your sensitivity to nonessential stimuli. I’m ambivalent about the term ‘mental numbing’ that the author/writing team used to describe this method. On the other hand, The INSTANT-Series team has hit the nail on the head with ‘horizontal mind mapping’ as the main process to achieve focus and to complete any task at hand. Mind mapping is a proven and great technique, and personally this is an excellent reminder for myself to always use it whenever possible.
In Chapter 4, Rewrite Your Mind to Channel Your Thoughts, I agreed with one of the statements, “Writing is a great way to practice control and to focus your limitless thoughts.” Putting down your ideas and thoughts on paper does make it easier to analyze them. There are also some mind exercises included to test the techniques given in this book. On the whole, readers who are already familiar with The INSTANT-Series would appreciate another set of direct and useful guidelines. I look forward to reading more from The INSTANT-Series.
