In the Depths by Tara Eldana is the story of a young woman who moved to a new place in the hopes of making a name for herself, but things turned out different than what she expected. Becca Paxton moved to Hawaii’s Garden Island and now she is writing new stories so that her editor is appeased. But the highlight of her day is when she falls asleep because that is the time when she meets with a dashing, handsome man who sets her soul ablaze. She thinks he is not real and only a figment of her imagination, so what is he doing here in the real world? Is she going mad? What is it about him that calls to her?
Fast-paced, romantic and mysterious, this novel nails it from every aspect. The story is very original, I haven’t come across such a plot and I have read plenty of romances to make this statement. Becca is such a fun character, she is funny, quirky and exceptionally well-crafted. Ethan, her literal dream man, is the stuff of fantasies and I really mean it like that. He is considerate, manly, handsome, well-built and so charming that he made me smile like an idiot. I cannot explain how amazing Ethan is; he must be experienced. The story itself is well thought out, it is detailed and the author has done a brilliant job at doing it justice in limited pages. This is one of my favorite romances and I simply love it!
