If you’re a business leader and want your company to be both profitable and an innovative, thriving organization with a healthy work culture that makes a positive difference in the world, but you aren’t sure where to start, Impact With Love: Building Business for a Better World by Greg Harmeyer is for you. The contents are divided into three broad topic areas that address believing in, designing for, and leading for impact. Harmeyer explains what love means in the context of the workplace and the economic, social, and political systems in which it operates. He outlines the issues that leaders must consider in fostering trust among the workforce and with all stakeholders. Summary and Reflection sections for each chapter emphasize the concepts. An index is included.
In Impact With Love: Building Business for a Better World, Greg Harmeyer gives us a deeply thoughtful and thought-provoking approach to leadership that is based on ancient concepts of morality but framed in terms of the complex socioeconomic and human resource issues that businesses face today. I was intrigued by the title and utterly impressed with the organization and thorough treatment of the topic. People are our number one resource, yet we often find that our policies or hierarchies have put stumbling blocks in their way. From the concept of capitalism itself to the many ways that the workforce can be empowered and cared for, Harmeyer offers a view of businesses in which profit and growth are the natural result of a healthy organization.
