Life is a journey, full of ups and downs and lots of hard work along the way. But there’s lots to see and do, lots to dream about, and lots of goals to achieve. Dr. Seuss had an idea with his story, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! He took young readers on adventures to see what they could achieve in their own life’s journey. Young people, as well as people of all ages, can aspire to do great things, but they all have to start somewhere. So why not start here? And the final goal? To see where life’s journey leads you, that’s where.
Raye Springfield’s picture book story, I’m Going to Start Here! Come Fly With Me, is a fun, rhyming verse story following in the steps of none other than Dr. Seuss himself. The book encourages young readers to think big and to look outside the box, or at least beyond the oyster shell: “The world is my oyster, got a whole wide world to see!” And there’s more than what’s on earth to see; there’s also the universe full of stars and planets. The key to success in one’s journey is to be adventurous. It’s a big world out there: there is so much to see and do and learn about. All you need to take along is your “ABCs – Aptitude, Boldness, Character, too.” Why? Because “With my great imagination there isn’t anything I can’t do.” The story is inspirational, encouraging readers to let their imaginations take them wherever it leads them. With bold and colorful illustrations, this is a great story to get the momentum going and make readers, young and old, think big and not to be afraid of what’s out there.
