Well, what young child would NOT want to have his or her way? The little girl in this book had visions of having her way with many things she encountered in life.
If there were no insects or worms or if you did not have to brush your teeth, the world might seem easier to a preschool child. If you did not have to eat things you did not like and could just eat candy and other treats all day, wouldn't the world be a wonderful place?
And then, wouldn't it be absolutely perfect if your daddy could stay home all day and be available to do whatever you wanted to do? Wouldn't that be just the perfect world for a child?
But then, there would be consequences of always getting your way. There would be problems with not eating things that were good for you and for not going to bed and getting a good night's sleep. And that is why daddy is there - to help you sort through why it may not always be a good idea to have your own way.
Carol Dixon has done a lovely job in providing illustrations which compliment the story plot and keep the children interested and attentive. This is a lovely read for all the preschool dreamers who believe that Heaven on Earth is having your own way!
