I Need a Little More Jesus by Dominique Wilkins is about Giselle Donahue who falls pregnant. Her family, who are staunch church-goers, feel ashamed and send her out of the house. Her father is unable to face the humiliation and forbids her from coming back home. Giselle feels guilty about the whole episode and she feels God will punish her for the sin. It is at that time she meets Veronica, a prostitute and Mitch, an old man who, like her, is undergoing trials. The book brings together three different people from different walks of life, but facing the same problems.
The book leads you on to the path of God. Every one of us undergoes trials and tribulations in life. The book tells us to believe in God and open ourselves to His grace, love, and blessings. The author has beautifully woven the stories of three different people together, who are undergoing problems in their lives and how they meet and support each other.
The book reaffirms your faith in the Lord and tells us that we all need Jesus to save us from our problems. The importance of God in our daily lives and the necessity of prayer is spoken about beautifully throughout the story. Each character's misery is etched out well by the author. The message in the book is that whatever strata of society we belong to, God is there for anyone and everyone, irrespective of where we come from. Dominique Wilkins is a favorite author of mine, so I really enjoyed this.
