How to Slow Your Inner Flash by Kenneth Rogers, Jr. expands on the definition of workaholism and helps the reader in understanding how to overcome workaholism as a coping mechanism for childhood abuse. People are forced to decide whether they will begin the healing process or continue to cope unsuccessfully with unresolved trauma. Happiness comes from confronting the past, choosing to heal, and feeling all emotions. There is a limit to the amount of trauma an individual can endure before breaking and possibly transforming into the villain if they make the conscious decision not to heal. Without proper healing, we have the potential to become the villains of our own story. How to Slow Your Inner Flash shows how the right and wrong in comic books often resemble the thoughts through which survivors view their world.
Through his poignant book How to Slow Your Inner Flash, author Kenneth Rogers Jr. shows that he is an innovator, motivated, and capable of finding new ways to help survivors heal through the use of superheroes and villains, whom Kenneth sees as reflections of himself. This book is an absolute must-read for any person who has either been abused themselves or is in a relationship with a survivor of abuse in any shape or form. Kenneth is a fantastic author and has found an unusual way to share his message, helping the reader understand the correlation between surviving abuse and superheroes. All-round, a terrific book highly recommended for adults of all ages.
