Alli Koch helps kids get started on the wonderful path of art in How to Draw for Kids: Mushrooms & Woodland Creatures (How to Draw For Kids Series). There are 5-minute drawing lessons that are great for a young beginning artist starting from age 7-12. Kids as young as 5 who have an interest in art can follow along as well. Each lesson helps children practice basic art skills and boost their confidence. The book provides woodland plants and creatures as themes to practice drawing. There are over 40 great models to try that provide very simple steps and diagrams to walk youngsters through from start to finish. These can be used for homeschooling art lessons and are great for elementary school art classes as well. These also can be used as a gift for any occasion.
My six-year-old son is having a wonderful time drawing the animals and plants in How to Draw for Kids by Alli Koch. The lessons are absolutely a perfect addition to my home school curriculum. He has shown an interest in art since he was two and decided he wanted to learn to write. The introduction encourages young artists to amplify the theme that anyone can draw. The author outlines the best tools to use to get started. The explanation of how to follow the instructions is so clear. I love the thought that the ABCs are a doorway to drawing and not just for writing words. I recommend fans of nature themes, animals, and realism in art to get this book.
