Hold Me Again written by Rory Church is a fast-paced thriller that immediately takes the reader crashing into the Black Hills local hospital and into the emergency department where Tracy Aspen works. From the moment that young local lad, Steven Kincaid, is brought in for treatment by rescuer Jake Moran – ex-South Dakota park ranger and Tracy’s old flame - sparks begin to fly. As the investigation into the mysterious shooting death proceeds, Tracy finds herself grudgingly having to resort to her Afghanistan training in order to stay alive and enable her to help reveal a murderer, the source of nuclear readings close to Jake’s ranch, but also the identity of a sniper in the area.
Rory Church brings the story to a resounding climax, using the denigrating influence of elite FBI agents, Homeland Security, and local police. Jake and Tracy learn to understand and trust again, laying aside old untruths and slanderous accusations. All this with a massive winter storm bearing in, threatening to bring the whole investigation to an abrupt end. I totally enjoyed this book. There is action, murder, and romance, all wrapped up in a beautifully written story. There's no putting this one down and getting otherwise distracted. Once you start to read, you are sure to be hooked, just as I was. The characters are tough and relentless in their pursuit of the truth. Hold your breath and get ready for a wonderful roller-coaster read. Wonderful thrilling story. Highly recommended adult reading.
