Hoe Fiction III: The Saga Continues by Ashley M. Hardy is the third installment of the Hoe Fiction series, following book one, Scandalous Hoe Fiction, and book two, Hoe Fiction II: The Sauce. Like its predecessors, Hoe Fiction III revolves around the advancing drama of its main female characters - Friday, Desi, Reese, Lena Harriet, and Candace, along with a host of supporting characters - who live on the fringes of society, forging forward the only way they know how...and the only way they can. Both inside and outside their homes and a strip club, they are a mixed bag, each with their own burdens to carry. Sex, romance, and friendship often become convoluted, but the women themselves fight with every fiber of their beings to not just survive, but to thrive.
There is a quote by the character Friday that I feel summarizes accurately the way Hoe Fiction III: The Saga Continues by Ashley M. Hardy will resonate with readers: "To console the afflicted and unsettle the comfortable." That's exactly what Hardy's book does. The dialogue between the women is easily some of the most authentic, believable I've come across. There's a grittiness to it, but it sounds incredibly natural. And that's a good thing, because this is a book that creates a scene with a heavy emphasis on conversation. Told from the shifting point of view of all its wonderfully fleshed out main characters, Hoe Fiction III packs a huge punch for such a compact story. If you're looking for a thoughtful book with a profound gynocentric story line, this is what you should be reading.
