History of the First Queen is the fourth book in The Empyrical Tales by Mark Miller. After Queen Olena returns to Empyrean Castle, elf butler Tym starts regaling her and her friends with the story of Nyssa the Traveller. Sixteen-year-old foster teen Nyssa's life turns upside down when she runs through a door at the back of a curiosity shop and finds herself transported to a world amid a battle between giant men and humongous monsters. Nyssa watches as Father Odin and his army battle against the Forgotten Evil's minions. But after the Atumval is lost, Nyssa is cursed by the entity's power. She finds herself traveling back and forth in time, witnessing momentous events throughout Empyrean's history. However, she must return as the Queen of Eastern Sky to defeat the Forgotten Evil.
Author Mark Miller transports you to an awe-inspiring world filled with magic and wonder. The narrative is non-linear, often switching timelines that make the story feel like a puzzle box waiting to be unlocked. The pacing is relentless, and the constant twist and turns of the plot keep you hooked throughout the pages. Every single character feels colorful and oozes personality. I found them thoroughly entertaining. Nyssa and Aleria's friendship was one of my favorite aspects of the book. I also enjoyed the evolution of Nyssa from a timid and insecure teenager feeling lost in an unknown world to a confident young leader inspiring others. If you're a fan of young adult fantasy adventure stories, History of the First Queen is the book for you.
