Hearts in Bloom by Sara Ohlin follows the story of two individuals who never expected to fall in love, especially considering the extra complications present in both of their lives. Gabriella Flores (aka Gabby) decided to move back to Graciella, Oregon, and make a fresh start, but when she has a run-in with Lucas and his two girls, things quickly become messy and emotions erupt all over the place. To make matters worse, or perhaps better, they had to work together on the Spring Blossom Festival. Despite some doubts and reluctance, the two can’t seem to stay away from one another.
Two strong and independent people, lots of awkward encounters, adorable kids, and plenty of heart-warming moments are to be found in Hearts in Bloom by Sara Ohlin. This book was such a pleasure to read from start to finish. There are adorable moments between Gabby and the girls, all while she has her awkward little moments with Lucas. I couldn’t help but laugh at their poor attempts to deny the obvious attraction they felt toward one another but it was fun watching them try. I loved that both characters came across as being so genuine with their problems and insecurities. The story itself was realistic and made you feel even more connected to the characters while reading. The pacing was also just right, setting the scene perfectly before throwing the characters into each other’s lives. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to any lover of romance.
